No playstation plus is $50 for the year and most people have enjoyed content way exceeding the inital price in the 1st 3 months of subscription.
A main factor here is that ps3 have the option of upgrading for extra access to GAMES , all ps3 owners get to play their games online if they wish for FREE

In the same vain it's not practical for everyone to have a gaming PC hooked up to the living room hdtv, while a console is designed to do just that.
PC is gaming is great for those that are into it, I dabbled years ago myself but the reality is that consoles will always offer great gaming with little to no hassle or technical no how. This was not my experience with PC gaming
